CITB Grace Periods Removed!
As of the 1st January 2016, the CITB Site Supervisor (SSSTS) and CITB Site Management (SMSTS) certificates no longer have a six-month grace period after expiry.
Both the SSSTS and SMSTS certificates are valid for five years and require candidates to complete a Refresher course in order to renew their qualifications. The awarding body CITB have now removed the six-month grace period which was available previously and candidates will be required to complete the Refresher course prior to the expiry date on their original certificate.
For those who have been unaware that the grace period has been removed and their certificates have been expired, candidates can send an appeal to the CITB to ask for an extension on their certificate. The CITB will consider the candidate’s request and those who are successful in their appeal, will be granted thirty days to complete the relevant Refresher course. Unfortunately, those who are not successful in their appeal, will be required to complete the full course again.
